R&D Director / MOLECULAR BIOLOGY / Brno
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of researchers and developers to create new products, processes, or services that meet customer needs (10 colleagues)
- Develop and implement the research and development strategy in line with the company’s business objectives
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends and user needs
- Generate new ideas for products, services, or processes and assess their feasibility
- Oversee the development process from concept to launch, including prototyping, testing, certification and refinement
- Manage budgets and timelines for research and development projects
- Evaluate the performance of new products, processes, or services after launch and make improvements as necessary
- Keep up to date with advances in technology and developments in the field
- Network with other research and development directors to share best practices
- Present findings to senior management
- Train and mentor junior researchers and developers
- Participation in foreign congresses, presentations, meetings of the international scientific community, lectures, etc. within Europe, about 5-6 per year also in the USA
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. in MOLECULAR BIOLOGY or BIOMEDICINE, as well as significant experience leading a research and development team.
He or she will be an excellent communicator with strong project management skills.
The Director of Research and Development must have a strong base of coordination and technical skills that can be flexibly adapted to meet the needs of many different internal and external stakeholders. The director must understand the unique responsibilities and accountabilities of external collaboration, provide outstanding leadership; communicate professionally; and, work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team/community effort.
- PhD in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine or similar
- 10+ years experience in research and development, with 5+ years in a leadership role
- Industry experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Proven track record of successful product development
- Experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to think both big-picture and details-oriented, remaining focused on goals and objectives;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and be persistent, and solve problems as they arise
- Experience with project management, such PRINCE 2
- Knowledge in certification process, IVDR 2017/746 and EN ISO 13485:2016 advantage
- Fluent English is a must
- Residence Brno or surroundings
Compensation
The company will provide a competitive compensation package consisting of a base salary commensurate with experience, and an incentive program tied to company and individual goals.
